Privacy policy
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and tracks nobody. This page explains exactly what that means, what little information we do handle, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Effective date: [DD Month YYYY] · Version 1.0
The short version
- We set no cookies and use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools of any kind.
- The contact form does not send anything to us. It opens your own email program with a message ready for you to review and send yourself.
- Your language and light/dark preferences are stored in your own browser and are never transmitted anywhere.
- Our web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address. This is the only third party this site contacts.
- If you email us, we keep your message so we can answer it — nothing more.

Who we are
This website is operated by [Legal entity name], trading as Orbiteches, of [Full registered address], Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are the organisation responsible for the personal information described here — the "data controller", in European terms.
For anything to do with privacy, write to info@orbiteches.com.
What we collect
Information you choose to send us
The enquiry form on our contact page has no server behind it. When you press send, the details you entered are assembled into a message and handed to whatever email program your device uses. Nothing reaches us until you send that message yourself, and you can edit or discard it first. Once you do send it, we receive whatever it contains — typically your name, email address, company, phone number if you supplied one, and the description of your situation.
Preferences stored in your browser
We store two small values in your browser's local storage: the language you picked and whether you prefer the light or dark appearance. These are not cookies, they are never sent to us or to anyone else, and they exist only so the site looks the same next time you visit. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Server logs
Like every website, ours is served by a hosting provider that keeps technical logs — typically IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use these only to keep the site running and secure. Our hosting provider is [Hosting provider].
Web fonts
The typefaces on this site are delivered by Google Fonts. To fetch them your browser contacts Google's servers, which discloses your IP address to Google and is governed by Google's own privacy policy. This is the only third-party connection this website makes. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, social media widgets, chat tools, heat maps, session recorders or any comparable technology.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not add enquirers to a mailing list. We do not use your data to train machine-learning models.
Why we handle it, and on what basis
We handle the small amount of information above for three reasons: to answer the enquiry you sent us, to keep the website working and secure, and to remember the display preferences you chose.
Under Canadian law (PIPEDA and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act) we rely on your consent, which you give by choosing to send us a message. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, our legal bases under the GDPR are your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and in operating a secure website.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Correspondence with clients: kept for the duration of the engagement and for as long afterwards as Canadian tax and business-records law requires.
- Server logs: kept for the period set by our hosting provider, typically no more than 12 months.
- Browser preferences: kept on your device until you clear your browser data.
Who else sees it
Only the people who need to. Within Orbiteches, that is whoever is answering your enquiry. Outside Orbiteches, only the service providers that make this possible — our email provider and our hosting provider — and only as processors acting on our instructions.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, and in that case we will tell you unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
International transfers
We are based in Canada, so information you send us is handled in Canada. Some of our providers may store data in other countries, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for Canada or on Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
If the GDPR applies to you, you also have the right to restrict or object to our handling of your data, the right to receive it in a portable format, and the right not to be subject to decisions made solely by automated means — which we do not make.
To exercise any of these, write to info@orbiteches.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Because the contact form sends nothing to a server of ours, there is no enquiry database to breach. Messages you email us are held in our business email accounts, which are protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, and we make no absolute guarantee — but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small, which is the most effective protection there is.
Children
This is a business-to-business website and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this site handles personal information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be flagged clearly on the page for at least 30 days.
Questions and complaints
Please come to us first at info@orbiteches.com — most things are resolved quickly.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in British Columbia, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC (oipc.bc.ca). If you are in the EEA or UK, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
